Hatun is asking why some Muslims are dishonest and misrepresent their sources. Sheikh Uthman ibn Farooq published a video in which he claims that the age of Khadija, the Mother of the Believers, was 25 when she married Muhammad. Traditionally, it has been taught worldwide that Khadija was 40 years old when she married Muhammad. Muslims had no problem with this for centuries. Now Sheikh Uthman comes and says Khadija was 25 or 28 — a claim very similar to what Yasir Qadhi made a few years ago.
Hatun will also review Sheikh Uthman’s video, critique it for educational purposes, and highlight some of the mistakes he makes. Most importantly, he claims that Ibn Kathir stated Khadija was 25 when she married Muhammad — and that this is the most authentic opinion. Yet, we cannot find such a statement in Ibn Kathir’s works. Why is Uthman misrepresenting his sources?
More recently, Daniel Haqiqatjou claimed that women who are older and have children have less value in the marriage market. So in this livestream, Hatun will be breaking this down. Why do some Muslims now have a problem with the idea that the Prophet of Islam married a woman older than himself? Why has this only become an issue in the last few years? Join Hatun as she exposes the teachings of Islam and the actions of its followers.
