Two Muslim suicide bombers attempted to kill Christians in an attack on an Indonesian church but were thankfully prevented by police. The attackers were aiming for maximum carnage by planning their attack on Palm Sunday, which traditionally draws large crowds.
The only deaths were the attackers themselves, a husband and wife team who were married some six to seven months prior to the bombing, but 20 people were injured.
Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, with approximately 225 million followers out of a total population of 270.2 million (2020 census).
